The Rogue Top Ten Last Songs of 2016

The last song of your wedding night can be crucial but is nothing to stress about. We asked DJae Melee to put together a list of the top 10 last songs of 2016 and we got something even better! A 5 point guide leading you down the path for the best last song choice for any couple.

DJae Melee explains that “These following tracks are just popular among the couples I work with, but may only reflect a small portion of the songs available that I talk about in the paragraphs below. A true DJ can create the atmosphere you want through out the night, until the last track ends.”

Here is our rogue top 10 list of last songs in 2016!

1.) “The Family Gems” These tracks are both known and sung with passion by both friends and family. It’s the family tradition or last song at all the weddings in the group. They have been anticipating the track all night.

  • Africa – Toto
  • Footloose – Kenny Loggins
  • We are Family – Sister Sledge

2.) “The Last-First Dance” The song you didn’t get dance to. The ‘first dance’ that didn’t make the final cut among the two of you, this is the time for that track. This is the memory track, the final feeling of the night. It’s one last kiss and sweet good-bye to the day or night.

  • I Won’t Give Up – Jason Mraz
  • Die a Happy Man – Thomas Rhett
  • Wonderful Tonight – Eric Clapton

3.) “The Chart Topper” The most influential track of the season, this track is the one everyone is singing in every office, school, break room, car and wedding. It’s the track with the easy to remember and recite lyrics. These songs tend to have a short shelf life, but often surprise even seasoned DJs.

  • Shut Up and Dance – Walk the Moon
  • 24k Magic – Bruno Mars
  • Closer – The Chainsmokers

4.) “Ring Around the Couple” The classic wedding ballads are still timeless and affective if used at the right time for the dance floor that will react to it! A true DJ will use these tracks for the last song.

  • New York, New York – Frank Sinatra
  • Home – Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros

5.) “Country Love” Pop Country music has become a staple around the music world beyond country stations and a perceived Southern or Midwestern stereotype. New artists, with a more dynamic sound have influenced the wedding world and have created tracks that reflect that ‘last track of the night’ feeling.

  • H.O.L.Y – Florida Georgia Line
  • House Party – Same Hunt
  • Lights Come On – Jason Aldean
